Municipalities report higher COVID-19 deaths than the Albanian Ministry of Health

There is a discrepancy between the official data declared by the government and those reported by the municipalities on the number of victims of COVID-19. Only the Municipality of Tirana has 119 more victims from COVID-19 than the official figure given by the Ministry of Health for the entire Tirana region.

The figures reported by the Ministry of Health do not show the real number of deaths caused by COVID-19 in our country.

Euronews Albania requested from the Funeral Services Agency at the Municipality of Tirana official information on the number of citizens who lost their lives from this virus in Tirana and from the answer, it is learned that from March to November 25, 2020, the number of victims in Tirana alone is 434, while As of November 27, the Ministry of Health reports 315 victims, not only for Tirana, but for the entire region.

The difference of 119 victims for Tirana alone, regardless of the number of victims in other municipalities of the region such as Kamza, Vora, Kavaja, and Rrogozhina, shows that the official figures reported are much lower than the real number of deaths.

A few days ago, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulëzim Basha, also accused the government of hiding real data on the number of victims of COVID-19, making public some lists that, according to him, contained data from the morgue, where is shown the real number of deaths from COVID-19.
