 Gjerasim D. Qiriazi, the first Albanian Protestant preacher and founder of the Evangelical Brotherhood and the Albanian School for Girls in Korça died on January 2, 1894, 125 years ago.

Gjerasim Dhimitër Qiriazi, missionary, visionary, writer, founder of the Society "Albanian Evangelical Brotherhood", passed away in Bitola.

On November 12, 1884, while traveling in the mountains southwest of Lake Ohrid, he was attacked by bandits and held hostage for a year and a half.

His Sad Six-Month Story has been translated into English by J. Ë. Baird from the Monastery as Captured by Brigands (London, 1902).

On November 14, 1892, following the opening of the first Albanian language newspaper in the Korça region, together with his sister, Sevastina Sevasti Qiriazi-Dako (1871-1949) and Parashqevi Qiriazi (1880-1970), he opened the Albanian school for girls at his home in Korça, on October 23, 1891.

He was the author of poems, songs, drawings, dialogues and textbooks. A selection of his writings was published by his younger brother Gjergj in the four-part Hristomathi collection (Sofia, 1902).
