As in any election, the Kosovar diaspora has shown tremendous interest in voting in the February 14 elections.

"So far, about 30 thousand applications for registration have been entered in the system, and about 16,700 of them have been approved," said Valmir Elezi, Central Election Center spokesman.

Thousands more, after verification, gained the right to vote.

"According to the data we have from the voting service, have been about 135 thousand e-mails have been received until the planned time, are still unopened," said Elezi.

The process of verifying diaspora applicants, which Kosovo is doing for the first time, remains difficult.

"It is a long process. We had to increase the capacities in order to realize this process. We are working in two shifts in all areas where we had to support this operation," said, on the other hand, Burim Ahmetaj, Chief of Secretariat of the CEC.

However, the final number of diaspora voters will be understood only at the end of the verification process.

The process of applying voters from outside Kosovo started on January 13 and ended on January 21 at 18:00. Verification must be completed by January 31 and voting for them will start from February 2 to 12.
