Albania ranks the fourth country in the world for the migration of professionals: OECD

Albania continues to be a country with a high level of emigration. According to a report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), our country ranks fourth in the world for the increase in the emigration rate of people with high working skills, as Euronews Albania reports.

But the wave of emigration has not only affected the labor force, but also the intelligentsia and experts. According to this report, Albania is ranked among the top 10 countries in the world for the rate of emigration of intellectuals for the period 2000-2001 to 2015-2016.

According to the report of the Organization for Economic Cooperation, our country is positioned in eighth place in the world for the rate of emigration of intellectuals.

While in figures even more worrying is the increase in the rate of emigration of people with high abilities, were for the same period we hold fourth place.

The mass emigration of Albanians began in the 1990s with the fall of the communist regime and apparently is not mitigating and the emigration of the educated does not seem to be good news at all.

According to the report, other Balkan countries are also potential sources of emigration to EU countries. But even here Albania ranks first with a total emigration rate of 29%, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina (20%) and North Macedonia with 18%.
