Albanian Government makes concessions to Vlora Port for 35 years; 23 million euros tender opened

The government will make concessions to the tourist port of Vlora. The tender was announced this week by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, as the latter received an unsolicited bid from a company, whose name does not appear in the procurement documents.

According to the procedure for the port in question, competition is open until February 26, where other operators are invited to show interest, while the value of this investment according to the Ministry of Infrastructure should not be estimated by bidders less than 23 million euros.

The concession will have a lifespan of 35 years and will be financed 100% by the private sector, while, according to documents, Vlora Marine is expected to be built in the current port of this city, and is part of the Master Plan of Lungomare in the coastal city.

The management criteria stipulate that Vlora Marine must provide a protected, safe, functional berth throughout the year for modern yacht fleets and must accommodate a minimum of 400 vessels.

The tender in question restores once again the not required proposals, which have been criticized by the International Monetary Fund and have been removed for a number of sectors, while for ports and airports the Government insisted 2 years ago to remain, but remove the bonus that favors bidders.
