Cybercrime is a growing phenomenon in Albania. 2020, has marked an increase in hacking with various cases of fraud, this because also of the pandemic.
Head of the Cybercrime Investigation Sector, Hergis Jica in an interview to Euronews Albania shows the most frequent cybercrimes for 2020.
"Only in the fourth quarter of the year that we just left behind, we have carried out 4 police operations, all different from each other. We had pornography with minors, threatening a police officer, we had a case of computer fraud and illegal interception or interference in data", says the head of the Cybercrime sector.
But what is meant by the term illegal eavesdropping in this case and how is this method used to steal?
"Illegal eavesdropping to be understood as simply as possible by the citizens is this: If two people have the same access to the account of one of these, and the second person who should not have access within the account, constantly receives and watches data sent to the first person. So if person A and person B have access to person A's account, person B can definitely access it irregularly, and person B manages to see the data or communications sent to person A,” says Hergis Jica.
Experts share some opinions on where children are abused on social networks.
"Personally, I am very much against posting photos of young children, especially if they are under 13 years old. Opening their profiles no and no, but parents should also be aware. The child is not aware that he should or should not publish a photo, but it is important to understand that a child up to 13 years old is not allowed to publish photos on the Internet", - says Ergest Nako, information security expert.
However, the authorities are confident that will successfully fight these crimes.
