The Tirana Court left in prison Ronida Hysa, the Infectious Diseases nurse, accused of stealing the money of a COVID-19 dead patient.

Through her lawyer, Hysa has admitted that she made cash withdrawals at several ATMs but claims that she found the wallet, and did not steal it from the deceased patient.

The 30-year-old single woman and mother of a minor child admitted that she made the withdrawals because of economic reasons.

According to the investigation, Hysa has made withdrawals at several ATMs. Her case was denounced by the patient's 25-year-old son.

This is not an isolated case of such scandals in Albanian hospitals: another case occurred about a month ago where medical personel stole from a dead patient an oxygen device that cost 5000 euros and now the case is in court between the hospital and the patient's family.
