The Greek opposition has reacted by asking for information from Prime Minister Mitsotakis regarding the role of Edi Rama in the negotiations between Athens and Ankara on the maritime border.

"SYRIZA supports the resumption of talks with Turkey. Although we have requested information on the visit of the Prime Minister of Albania, we are learning from the Foreign Minister of Turkey about a possible meeting with the Foreign Minister of Greece in Tirana.

What is the position of the government regarding such a meeting and why should it take place in Tirana and why not, for example, in Brussels? ” asks the party led by Alexis Tsipras.

Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu said today that Edi Rama had been offered as a mediator to bring the two sides into dialogue.

The spokesman for the Greek Foreign Ministry reacted initially by saying that his boss, Dendias, did not have an official invitation from Turkey to negotiate with them, either in Tirana.

But the Greeks have not contented themselves with that by reinforcing their message. During a joint press conference with Portuguese counterpart Anostas, the Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis addressed Turkey, stressing that they could not continue to do the "good men by asking for a date for negotiations".
