Albania starts exchanging financial account information with other countries

Albania has already started the automatic exchange of financial account information according to the Common Reporting Standard (AEOI), by successfully completing the pilot project.

During its involvement in AEOI, Albania received comprehensive legal and practical assistance, including the management of information security from the Italian Revenue Agency, the IT company of the Ministry of Finance and Economy in Italy (SOGEI), and the Secretariat of the Global Forum .

During her speech, the Minister of Finance and Economy, Anila Denaj, emphasized that the implementation of the automatic exchange of financial account information was an ambitious project that was successfully completed thanks to the partners.

"This project enables Albania to strengthen its technical capacities and its confidentiality framework. "Now our goal is to receive and use financial information effectively and then improve it in accordance with the tax system."

In 2014, Albania was among the few underdeveloped countries in the G-20 that did not had a financial center to implement the AEOI Standard, otherwise known as the Common Reporting Standard.

With the support of Italy and the Secretariat of the Global Forum, as well as thanks to the ongoing commitment, Albania managed to successfully finalize the project.
