Albania continues to remain in a critical phase of the second wave of COVID-19. The number of daily deaths and new cases remains worrying.
In the last day alone there have been 20 victims aged 63-85 while there have been 847 new COVID-19 new cases.
609 patients are being treated in covid hospitals in Tirana and three regional hospitals, 43 in intensive therapy, of which 10 patients are intubated.
Our country since the start of the pandemic and until now counts 1,876 victims caused by a coronavirus.
Currently, there are over 35 thousand active cases with COVID-19, where the vast majority of over 23 thousand are only in the Region of Tirana.
During the first months of 2021, there was a more aggressive wave of COVID-19 in Albania.
In January alone there were 20,676 new cases and 199 victims, while in February 29,040 cases and 416 victims.
February had about 9,000 more cases than January, while the number of victims was almost doubled.
