Nedim Bajrami will play for Albania

Nedim Bajrami has decided to be part of the Albanian national team. The 22-year-old has been active with the entire Swiss national team, from the U15 to the U21. Switzerland U21 coach Mauro Lustrinelli tried to change his mind until the last moment, but Bajrami did not back down.

He was born in Tetovo, North Macedonia, and grew up in Switzerland. He made his 17-year-old debut in the Swiss Super League with Grasshopper and is now "exploding" with Empoli. In short, he has more nationalities and passports than championships.

Xherdan Shaqiri's brother, Erdini, is his manager; while Shaqiri is owned by Juventus and plays on loan at Empoli.

The attacking midfielder is shining at Empoli, the team that leads Serie B, and is on his way back to the elite of Italian football.

Italian media have written about the Albanian footballer, describing him as an important footballer. "Technical and fast", is how the Italian media described Bajram, which brings to attention the insistence of the Swiss coach to convince Bajram not to leave. Referring to a statement for the Swiss Blick, the coach Lustrinelli said the following about this issue: “We tried to convince Nedim to continue playing with Switzerland, but he told us that his heart beats only for Albania. We surrendered, we can not prevent his departure to Albania", declared the 45-year-old coach. Bajrami is looking forward to FIFA permission to play with Albania.
