13 Albanian cocaine traffickers arrested in Venice

13 people were arrested yesterday by the police in Venice because they were involved in a cocaine trafficking destined for the lagoon city. This is a large police anti-drug operation, directed by the District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office, which involved over 100 policemen, ANSA reports.

The arrested are Albanian citizens, many of whom worked in the historic center, and who in this way exploited the cover of a legitimate business to move with ease in the Venetian canals. The police also seized a quantity of cocaine.

It would be a criminal group that had a pyramid structure, divided into specific tasks and levels of responsibility.

Albanian cocaine traffickers in Venice are a permanent concern as they have bought a number of legitimate businesses and used them as a cover to carry out their illegal activity. In this way, the values of traditional businesses fade, distorting thus many character aspects of the city.
