Albanian state must finally pay 110 million euros to Becchetti for the closure of Agon Channel in 2015

Albanian State has finally lost the lawsuit against the Italian entrepreneur Francesco Becchetti, regarding the compensation he requested for the closure of "Agon" television in 2015.

The recourse of the Albanian state has collapsed, remaining in force the decision of the arbitration court of 2019, which sentences Albania with 110 million euros, judging that the closure of "Agon" television was politically motivated.

The Albanian state has lost several trials in international arbitration, but this is the most severe punishment has received so far.

Since 2011, Albania has lost 10 arbitration trials. Albania acceded to the conventions on the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards in the 2000s and with two decades of experience, the bill is more than salty.
