Albin Kurti having the vaccine |
He said that Kosovo, unlike other countries in the region, does not have the luxury of accepting vaccines produced by countries such as Russia and China, as these two countries have not recognized Kosovo's independence.
"I was in contact with the Prime Minister regarding the vaccination in Kukës, where we asked that this be made possible for teachers and not only health workers, but on this issue Minister Vitia and Minister Manastirliu continued their communication, and they can let you know more. In principle, we must keep in mind that the Republic of Kosovo, since it is not recognized by many countries in the world, among which are two major powers that are members of the Security Council, does not have the convenience of accepting their vaccines, as some other countries are doing," said Kurti.
The chief executive also spoke about the readiness that Albania has shown to help Kosovo in vaccinating white shirts and teachers, but at this point, Kurti hinted that they will not accept receiving Chinese vaccines.
"So, our orientation is European and Euro-Atlantic with countries that have recognized us and therefore we have our reservation and our skepticism, but at the same time our clear stance against various offers, which may come to us from non-recognizing countries outside Europe. The situation in this aspect is more delicate for Kosovo than with other countries in the region", adds Kurti.
The Minister of Health, Arben Vitia said that Albania will vaccinate the teachers when will have Pfizer or AstraZeneca, as he confirmed the Chinese vaccine is not an option for Kosovo.
