The ministry stresses that any activity aimed at endangering the physical integrity of senior state officials would destabilize the very complex security situation in Montenegro.

The threat against Deputy Prime Minister Abazovic comes after the arrest of the leader of a dangerous criminal group, Slobodan Kascelan, in the city of Kotor. Abazovic described Kascelan's arrest as the biggest success of Montenegrin police in the last 10 years.

Kascelan was the leader of a criminal group that has been operating since 2015. This group has waged a bloody war with a rival gang to control cocaine smuggling from South America. Kascelan survived two assassinations.
