George Tames, the Albanian who photographed 10 American presidents in a row

 George Tames, born in Washington D.C., was the son of a family of first-generation Albanian immigrants to the United States, who at first did not spoke well English and could not start school, but later became a photographer and worked for 10 American presidents from Roosevelt to Bush.

Due to the hard living conditions, he abandoned the school and started working with his father.

His career as a photographer began in 1940 with the photographers of Capitol Hill, photographing various people, but the commitment and great talent he had with the realization of photography made him very quickly become one of the most sought-after photographers in America.

Thus, George Tames with his artistic eye entered the White House, and from there became the personal photographer of the 10 presidents who came there, standing out for his unique style in shooting a photograph.

He first photographed Roosevelt in 1941 during his inaugural parade, and the last time when his coffin was returned to Washington from Georgia, in April 1945. It had thus begun for George Tames without thinking of the 50-year "marathon" of photographing 10 presidents in a row, a Guinness record and impossible destination for any of the other photographers integrated into the White House.
