Yesterday, the US State Department published the report on human rights in the world for 2020, highlighting the situation in Albania, where the main problem remains the spread of corruption at all levels.
In a post today on the official Facebook page, the US Embassy in Tirana says that prosecutors in Albania have made progress in prosecuting low-level corruption cases, but the phenomenon is widespread.
“The US Department of State's Human Rights Report for Albania for 2020 notes significant progress by prosecutors in prosecuting low-level corruption cases but continuing concerns about widespread corruption; independence of the judiciary; restrictions on freedom of expression and the media; and impunity, ”the embassy wrote. While a few minutes later, it was Yuri Kim herself that emphasized through a Twitter post the US will work harder than ever with the government and opposition to fight corruption.
