Who is Egzon Gashi?
Egzon Gashi was born in Kosovo in 1991 and his family emigrated to the United States less than a year later - when the war in Kosovo began (March 24, 1999). His family left to leave behind (Kosovo) in an aggravated situation by the wars in the former Yugoslavia. He and his brothers came to America to pursue education opportunities where Egzon graduated from Johns Hopkins University & Rutgers University.
Egzon spent the first 6 years of his life in the Bronx, NY when his family moved for better conditions, this time only 20 miles away from the Bronx, to New Jersey. Egzon attended Rutgers University there in 2012 and later studied International Relations at Oxford University from 2012-2013.
After Oxford and inspired by his family's continuing education, Egzon joined Teach For America as a recruit in 2014. With Teach For America, Egzon taught high school math for two years at Memphis, Tennessee. Simultaneously, Egzon completed a master's degree in secondary education from Johns Hopkins University.
