Albanian public-private partnership is an obstacle to debt reduction according Moddy report

Moody has published the report for Albania, where it is emphasized that our country managed to maintain stable positions in international markets. Albania ranks again with the rating "B1", even after being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. For the agency, improving revenue collection remains a key element in enabling increased capital investment.

Moody predicts economic recovery in the medium term, while the debt burden, after significant growth in 2020, will resume its downward trajectory.

"Fiscal consolidation to resume in 2022, with the fading of the pandemic effect and the closure of the reconstruction process. "The deficit will narrow to 2.9% of GDP and the ratio of public debt to GDP will return to a gradual downward trend," the report said.

The debt assessment agency bases these calculations on increased foreign direct investment, tourism, and remittances.

Meanwhile, Moody estimates that the obligations conditioned by the public-private partnership (PPP) continue to pose a risk on the path of fiscal consolidation while predicting that the conditions and reforms suggested by the European Union on the path to integration will be part of the ongoing policy.
