Town of Gucia in Montenegro |
According to the statement of the project coordinator, Emina Adrovi, given to the media, the achievement of this plan is intended through the implementation of various mechanisms and strategies, so that the linear waste management system is replaced by the so-called circulating. It is about the concept, which within this network has been adopted by hundreds of municipalities in Europe, most of them in mountainous areas.
"Gucia is a municipality which does its best to prevent the stacking of waste in landfills. We from the ‘Zero Waste’ movement, see garbage as a resource. Our goal is to 'extract' the greatest value of the resource instead of waste and to extend the life of materials that would otherwise end up in our truly beautiful nature. We will implement this goal in Gucia and we will realize the plan through various strategies, such as composting, reuse of old things, collection of selected waste from door to door, education of residents, cooperation with businessmen, etc. ", said the coordinator Adrovi.
She explains that the program "Cities without waste", is a program of the organization "Zero Waste Europa", its Montenegrin branch is a full member. The program makes the network of 33 full members from 26 European countries.
