Kosovo companies have managed to export 30 million euros worth of goods to the United States in the first four months of this year, compared to only 2 million in the same period last year, Adriatik Stavileci who is a Customs spokesman told to Radio Free Europe.
Whereas in 2019, the total value of exports from Kosovo to the US was only 3 million euros.
This increase in exports has been contributed by the preferential trade status that Kosovo enjoys with the United States of America, a status that allows the delivery of goods exempt from customs duties, in order to promote economic growth in developing countries.
There are about 3,500 products from different sectors that Kosovo can export to the world's largest economy, without having to pay taxes.
One of the companies from Kosovo that exports products to the market of the United States of America is the company "Frutex" from Suhareka, which deals with the production of non-alcoholic and energy drinks.
The owner of this company, Shaqir Palushi in a conversation for Radio Free Europe, said that during this year he has doubled the number of products in the American market.
The reason for the increase in exports of "Made in Kosovo" products in the United States of America, is the use of disorders that have been created in the global supply chain, in recent years, especially after the outbreak of the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, said Arian Zeka, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo (ACCK).
He calls the increase in exports a success because according to him, are being exported the final products.
"In this case, it is about exporting products with greater value. This was a wish of the ACCK but also of others, that from Kosovo not only raw materials are exported, raw or semi-processed products, but to export final products with higher value.
"This is about the export of mattresses from the company Comodita Home and beverages from the company Frutex, but also other sectors that use this opportunity," said Zeka.
