Taulant Balla in a public release (archive) |
The chairman of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, announced that the request was signed by 50 deputies, after the assessment that the President has violated the Constitution.
"The request of the deputies meets all the necessary conditions to be reviewed by the Assembly, which has the necessary sovereignty to exercise its mandate until July 8", said Balla, in a press conference, after the meeting of the conference of mayors.
According to the socialist deputies, President Meta, in his public appearances, did not guarantee the unity of the people and did not "moderate" the political conflict in the country, but, on the contrary, as stated in the justification of the request, has promoted it."
“Ilir Meta before, during and after the 2021 election campaign, with the actions, behaviors and messages given to the public did not guarantee national unity, did not moderate the political conflict, but rather encouraged it in such terms, which brought as consequently the organized outpouring of militants of political parties on the streets terrorizing citizens and restricting their freedom of movement as well as personal freedom, to the point of carrying out armed conflicts and the loss of one person’s life and injuring several others, including at the risk of the lives of the members of the Armed Forces", it is said, among other things, in the justification of the request for Meta's dismissal.
"The verses of war calls and the use of the epithets of violence, self-judgment, are clear messages of the Head of State to the people, who expected for him to avoid conflicts, not to incite them, to avoid violence, not to motivate it as a patriotic act." is stated in the request.
The request of the Socialists will be examined in the committee of laws of the Assembly and then an investigative committee can be established.
