The Special Court sentences former Prosecutor Adriatik Llalla to two years in prison

The Special Court has found former Chief Prosecutor Adriatik Llalla guilty of "refusal to declare" and "concealment of property".

Judge Daniela Shirka sentenced the former chief prosecutor to 2 years in prison and removed from him of the right to hold public office for a five-year term.

Meanwhile, Llalla has been found guilty regarding the expenses for the birth of his son in the United States of America, a cost of 7 thousand dollars.

Meanwhile, 4 plots of land in the suburbs of Tirana and an apartment in Durrës were seized from Llalla, which will be transferred to state ownership.

After this decision, the former Prosecutor General will not go to the cell, as this is a first instance decision and not a final decision.

In the session held this morning, Llalla presented the defense, where he asked for innocence, after the claim submitted by the SPAK prosecutor, Klodian Braho.

The lawyer of Llalla, Sokol Hazizaj, stated that the accusations against his client were fabricated.

"In 2016, Adriatik Llalla borrowed money to take his family to Germany because of threats. "Llalla has never hidden assets since he was the subject of the declaration", said the lawyer.

Regarding the amount of 7 thousand dollars for the birth of his son in the US, the lawyer said that the payments were made by a friend of his client, Albanian-American, who came and testified in Albania about this issue.

Representatives of the American embassy were also present in the courtroom against Llalla.
