Albanian journalist Ira Londo, reported from Athens on the event that has shocked the entire neighboring country, and beyond, the murder of the 20-year-old Caroline by her husband.
The tragic event took place in May, where for weeks in the Greek media it was alleged that the perpetrators were Albanians, based on the testimony of the victim's husband that he had heard Albanian spoken by the robbers. But, after the truth was revealed by the police, it turned out that the perpetrator was the husband himself, who had staged the crime as robbery.
In this regard, journalist Londo said that for 37 days in a row in the Greek media there were bombastic headlines and news about Albanians, which attracted the attention of all of Europe. According to her, this was shocking for the Albanians living in Greece, who were waiting for the bomb to "explode" and for the days of shame to come for them.
"It was a very shocking event, the way the young woman was killed. Gradually, after the pilot testified that he had heard Albanian spoken, bombastic headlines emerged. The police themselves set the figure of 30 thousand euros for information about the perpetrators. We waited for the bomb to explode and for the days of shame to come. But, the police said yesterday that they understood from the beginning that the perpetrator of the crime was the husband himself and that there was no robbery. For 37 days they came out with bombastic news, which attracted the attention of the whole of Europe when the police had information that the perpetrators were not Albanians. Why did the headlines have to be published constantly and there were extraordinary statements from many important figures of the country? Not only politicians but also on social networks, the head of prosecutors posted a question "Can you imagine a Greek committing such a crime?" The answer today is "Yes, we imagine it." Now the Greek media are openly positioned with the headlines "Forgiveness to Albanians". "Now they are forced to justify themselves to the Albanian community", said the journalist Londo.
