Emigrants arriving to Kosovo, in two weeks about 300 planes land in Adem Jashari Airport

Many compatriots have arrived in Kosovo these days from different European countries, through the planes that have landed at the International Airport "Adem Jashari" in Pristina.

However, their number is expected to be even higher in the coming days.

With the decline of COVID-19 cases and the start of mass vaccination, it looks like this year will be much different for everyone.

According to the spokesperson of Prishtina International Airport "Adem Jashari", Valentina Gara, within two weeks 287 flights were performed with a total of 41 thousand and 662 passengers.

"From June 7 to 13 there are 137 flights with 19 thousand and 750 arriving passengers and 18,168 departing passengers. Whereas, from 14 to 20 June, 150 flights were realized with 21,912 passengers on arrival and 17,517 passengers on departure".

Also, the diaspora continues to be one of the main sources of financing family expenses in Kosovo. Since declaring independence, their remittances have continued to grow

World Bank data show that 12.6 billion euros were sent within this period.

The largest value of remittances is that of 2020, where despite the COVID-19 pandemic the diaspora has sent 1.18 billion euros.

Unlike the preliminary results of the diaspora census, the number of Kosovo citizens living in different countries of Europe and the world, who responded to the census is about 350 thousand.
