Institute of Physics established at the Albanian Academy of Sciences, aiming to support young talents

The National Institute of Physics has been established at the Academy of Sciences, the first in Albania to bring together Albanian physicists working in scientific centers at home and abroad.

In this meeting, the members of the Board that will direct the first work of this new institute, have unveiled the objectives, as Euronews Albania rerpots.

"Over the years, with financial support, the virtual pieces of this institute can be turned into physical pieces, one of those pieces can be the Astronomy Observatory and be put into operation of the institute", said Rexhep Mejdani, chairman of the board.

The Executive Director of the newly established Institute will be Academician Mimoza Hafizi, who sees this initiative as very positive for these reasons.

"Within Albania, with a special focus on young people, we come from an excellent history of science, but in the current time the situation has degraded catastrophically. The number of students has dropped significantly, and we risk that even the current branches do not know how and for how long may exist", said Mrs. Hafizi.

The Institute of Physics will be involved in an international network, to exchange experiences between foreign physicists, which intends to invest in young physicists.
