Protest for beach guards in Velipoja after the drowning of a 44-year-old man

The drowning of a 44-year-old man on the beach of Velipoja, North Albania, has brought the protest of a group of citizens who came from Kosovo to rest on this beach.

The emergency delay of more than an hour has been unforgivable for tourists from Kosovo. While they also raise their voices about the lack of beach–Lifeguards, who in one case as the victim, at least would have come to the rescue.

Tefik Jakupi from Gjakova, professor of physical education, told Euronews Albania that many negative aspects of the beach are noticed, mentioning here the cleanliness and lack of beach-Lifeguards.

Another citizen who protested, while expressing her condolences to the family, said that she was not at the scene but saw it in passing.

"I am very sorry that he died due to the lack of medical care. "The emergency was delayed a lot because he had a heart attack there was the possibility to save him", said a citizen.

After the protest of vacationers from Kosovo, the health institutions in Shkodra reacted, while during the day sent ambulances and medical staff to this beach.
