Rudolf Elezovic |
Investigators suspect that the anti-drug officer from Ulcinj and Bar was executed in another place and then taken to the Buna River, near the village of Shëngjergj in Ulcinj.
According to Montenegrin media, police did not find the weapon or the cartridge case. No evidence was found near his lifeless body that would help the investigative group.
It was initially suspected that he had committed suicide, but after scrutinizing the scene, the police concluded that Elezovic has been killed.
Elezovic was the chief of the Ulcinj police for almost six years, until 2014. Most recently, he was an officer in the anti-trafficking sector for the Ulcinj and Bar. He was the head of the anti-drug operation carried out in February, during which 2.6 tons of drugs were seized in a truck, as well as the operation carried out a month later, where another 500 kg of marijuana were seized. Recently, he was involved in another investigation into drug trafficking.
The late Elezovic lost contact with his family on May 27, and the media raised suspicions that he may have been killed by criminal gangs operating in Montenegro.
Elezovic's disappearance was reported to police by his wife, Marina, on May 27, after her husband was not answering phone calls.
Elezovic abruptly left the apartment, taking only his cell phone with him and leaving his identification papers, work weapon, and other personal belongings.
In the last conversation, he had told his family that he would go to work in Shkodra and that he would return soon. It is suspected that after entering Albania, he met a person and returned through the water border.
