At a ceremony attended by the US Ambassador Yuri Kim today, the United States European Command donated $ 1 million worth of medical equipment against COVID-19 to Mother Teresa Hospital.

Ambassador Kim said that this donation shows the care that the American people show for the Albanian people.

"When someone opens that refrigerator to get a dose of vaccine when a patient lies in one of those beds, when an expert reads one of those screens, I hope they remember deep in their hearts that the American people care. We take great care of the Albanian people", declared the diplomat.

Speaking about the situation of COVID-19 in our country, the US Ambassador said that Albania "has one of the lowest levels of infection now in the world and also has one of the highest levels of vaccination in Europe."

In this prism, the diplomat underlined that "for most of the world, I think that sometimes Albania is underestimated".As success against the pandemic, Mrs. Kim praised the unification of Albanians beyond political differences.

The donated equipment includes hospital beds and mattresses for the intensive care unit, respirators, x-ray machines, ultrasound machines, and protective equipment.

In total, the ambassador said, the US counts "about $ 1 billion in contributions to Albania over the last three decades."
