Deputy Minister of Health, Eugena Tomini says that the presence of the "Delta" variant of COVID-19 in Albania was encountered at the end of May.

People affected by the coronavirus mutation, Tomini said, have created family outbreaks and among those affected are also the vaccinated people.

"Epidemiological data, investigation of cases that have been confirmed with the 'Delta' variant have a history of the onset of clinical signs from the end of May, 29/05/2021. "Almost 13 cases have created family hearths", declared the deputy minister.

Mrs. Tomini during an interview for Euronews Albania, Tomini announced that the people affected by "Delta" are in good health.

While the vaccinated persons who are also infected, the minister said they showed slight signs and thus not needing hospital treatment.

She said all individuals who carry both doses of the vaccine are protected at levels above 95% against severe forms of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Health said on the other hand that "aggression exists in individuals who are not vaccinated".

"The more vaccinated, the less ground the virus finds," she said. Tomini added that there is widespread support for the population to be vaccinated.

Asked if any constitutional policy will be pursued to force refusing citizens to be vaccinated, Ms. Tomini said that "there is no skepticism" but added that "at certain moments the population shows a preference" for the type of vaccine.

In the end, she said it is still too early to predict whether we will have another closure or tightening of restrictive measures.

Officially, the Institute of Public Health says that 6 people vaccinated with both doses of COVID-19 vaccines are affected by the "Delta" variant. Two of these got the AstraZeneca, two Pfizer, and two others Coronavax. Of these, two people have been vaccinated outside Albania.
