An anti-drug action by Special Forces in Tirana turned into an incident and violence against two journalists, who happened to be present at the scene.

Footage filmed by a citizen shows how at least 5 police officers surrounded a "Mercedes Benz" vehicle in the area near the Military Forces Academy, in which the police later clarified that it was an anti-drug action.

Journalist Ergys Gjençaj and his colleague Klodiana Lala from News 24 television faced physical and verbal violence from police officers, who appear to have put on the ground the journalist Gjençaj, pushed journalist Lala and forcibly dragged a citizen into a nearby business.

The police did not manage to immediately catch the driver of the "Benz" car.

The person inside the vehicle identified as Altin Gega who became the cause of the clash between police and journalists was stopped by the blues about 2 hours after the incident.

The Union of Albanian Journalists (UAJ) called the violence against journalists a "serious incident" and "police arrogance".

UAJ demands that measures be taken against police officers for these actions, saying that this was a repeated case.
