Drugs 'ring' destroyed in Vienna, 24 Albanians arrested

A drug trafficking ring made up of Albanians from Albania and Kosovo has been destroyed by Vienna police. During the operation, 24 people were arrested while at least 200 thousand euros were seized.

Investigations have shown that detainees between the ages of 18 and 48 were involved in drug trafficking. They operated in the districts of Vienna, Landstrasse, Margareten, Favoriten, Simmering, Meidling, Penzing and Brigittenau.

They sold mainly cannabis and cocaine in cafes, sometimes on the street or in cars, while the deals were made in vehicles.

In a large warehouse in Austria, they had cultivated a large amount of cannabis. During the controls, police discovered 2,000 plants that, if "harvested", would have produced at least 80 kg of cannabis.

The Blues also seized three vehicles used by the drug trafficking network to deliver 'orders' to customers.
