Paskal Milo: Communists annulled Mukje Agreement due to Yugoslav pressure on Ethnic Albania

Historians Paskal Milo and Nevila Nikaj find it necessary to review Albanian history because one-sided positions have been taken on some issues. Mr. Milo cited the breach of the Mukje Agreement as an event that deserves to be treated differently. He said that it was the Communist Party that broke the pact due to the pressure that came from the Yugoslavs due to the fact that in the document is mentioned Ethnic Albania.

"We have to admit that the Agreement at the Mukje Conference was broken by the Communist Party due to the great pressure of Vukmanovic Tempo, one of the Yugoslav communist leaders who came to Albania 2-3 times and pressured Enver Hoxha and the Albanian communist leadership to cancel the agreement because there was a point where it was said that 'we agree on Ethnic Albania'. But to say in 1943 that we agree on Ethnic Albania, at a time when the Yugoslav Communist Party was faltering, they accepted it in principle but not in practice," said Mr. Milo.

Historian Milo also pointed out that it is documented that it was the Communists who started the Civil War in Albania.

"These are very clear letters of Enver Hoxha of October 1, 1943, that he addresses to the central committees and in particular to Gjirokastra and Vlora, where he says that now we are finished with Balli, hit the Balli, annihilate Balli. It is very clear who started the gunfight," he said.

Historian Nevila Nikaj said that the review of history is necessary especially for the period of the National Liberation War and especially the great clash between the Communist Party and the National Front.

Mrs. Nikaj said the National Front was not an organized formation like the Communists as the latter were better organized due to the support of the Yugoslavs.

For Enver Hoxha, she said that she is a complex figure while talking about the existence of documents that prove the crimes committed directly by him.

"In the action for the cleansing of the North of Albania from the enemies, starting from some remnants of the Italian and German army. There are about 200 radiograms and telegrams exchanged between these commanders sent to Tirana and the answers coming from Enver. In the vast majority is Enver's answer where he says to be executed, to be killed, the killing to continue...

We have to mention here that Paskal Milo was a Communist Party servant and after the 1990s he has always been left-wing. This is his first public statement where he openly admits that the Civil War in Albania was started by the communists and also the Mukje Agreement was broken by them.
