Six members of the Serbian Parliament recognize Kosovo's independence

 Six deputies of the Parliament of Serbia were received today in a meeting by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.

The press release of the Government of Kosovo states that "these deputies recognize the independence of Kosovo and support the Kurti Government".

Prime Minister Kurti reiterated that Serbia must distance itself from Slobodan Milosevic's bloody past and politics. "Without distancing itself and without making a reflection on its past, Serbia can not move towards the future and normalization of relations with Kosovo," said Prime Minister Kurti.

"Six deputies of the People's Assembly of Serbia recognize the independence of Kosovo and support the Kurti Government. Sylejman Ugljanin, chairman of the Democratic Action Party of Sandzak, Shaip Kamberi, head of the parliamentary group "United Valley - SDA Sandzak", MPs Enis Imamovic, Nadije Beqiri, Mirsad Hodzic, Argjend Bajrami, Selma Kucevic, all expressed their support to the Prime Minister Kosovo, Albin Kurti in the meeting they had today in his office in the Government of the Republic of Kosovo", it is said in the press release.

SDA President Sulejman Ugljani thanked Prime Minister Kurti for the adoption in the Kosovo Assembly of the resolution condemning the Srebrenica genocide. He said that Bosniaks are very grateful that the Assembly of Kosovo sided with the law and condemned the greatest crime in Europe, after World War II, when 8000 Bosniak men and boys were killed and massacred in one day by Serbian forces.

Ugljanin stressed that the deputies of the coalition "United Valley - SDA Sandzak" recognize the independence and state of Kosovo. He said that they support Prime Minister Kurti and the Government of Kosovo in their commitment to protecting the rights of Albanians in Serbia. By protecting the rights of Albanians, you are also protecting the rights of Bosniaks," Ugljanin said. He praised Prime Minister Kurti's approach to establishing reciprocity of national minority rights in Kosovo and Serbia. "This is the medicine for solving the problems of minorities in the Balkans," he added.

Deputies briefed Prime Minister Kurti on the functioning of the executive bodies of the National Councils, they said that the Bosniak National Council in Serbia has 35 members and 7 delegates on the executive board. While the Assembly of the Albanian National Council has 15 members.

Prime Minister Kurti said that half of the Sandzak is currently in NATO and half is not, based on the fact that one part of the Sandzak is in Serbia and the other in Montenegro.

Today, the 6 Albanian deputies in the Serbian Parliament were received in a meeting by the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca.

Ugljanin, in his capacity as chairman of the SDA, expressed gratitude on behalf of the Bosniaks for the adoption in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo of the resolution condemning the genocide in Srebrenica.

Meanwhile, the deputies of the coalition "United Valley - SDA Sandzak" informed about the political situation in Serbia, denied rights and discrimination of minorities, in particular the Albanians of the Presevo Valley, Medvedja and Bujanovac by the Serbian state apparatus, as and demanded reciprocity of minority rights in Kosovo and Serbia.

Konjufca stressed the importance of coordinating actions and intensifying cooperation with elected officials and political representatives of the Presevo Valley, Medvedja, Bujanovac and Sandzak.
