The Albanian Liridona Smakiqi is the first Albanian woman to be elected councilor in the municipality of Renens, canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Sekiraqa has become part of the new term for the period 2021-2026.
"I am very happy that for the first time in the municipal council and voted by the citizens of Renens. I am the first Albanian woman to enter as a municipal councilor in the history of this city. I look forward to not being the only one in the future. I cordially thank everyone for their support and willingness to move on. I will be vocal for the benefit of the citizens and the Albanian community", writes Liridona Sekiraqa on her Facebook page.
