The statue of our national hero, Gjergji Kastrioti Skënderbeu is placed today in the central park of Budapest, in front of the statue of his contemporary, the hero of Hungary, Janos Hunyadi. The installation of the bust is an initiative and a gift of the Municipality of Tirana for the city of Budapest.
This statue is a sign of honor and remembrance for the friendship and cooperation that our hero had with Hunyadi, but also for the friendship that continues between the two peoples and the two capitals.
"A good day for relations between the two countries. Those nations that do not know where they came from do not even know where they are going. In the finale, beyond the noise and the story, are the deeds that remain. The challenge for our generation is to leave deeds, not to engage in gossip, not to quarrel with each other, not to hinder progress but to leave behind something that will remain. I am glad that the Municipality of Tirana leaves a work that will remain here in Budapest".
