No deaths and eight new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Albania in recent hours. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection says that positive cases have been found in Tirana, Korca, Devoll, and Gjirokastra.
At the Infectious Diseases Hospital, five patients are receiving specialized treatment, while currently 72 active cases are reported.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, 2,456 citizens have lost their lives and over 130,000 have recovered from the symptoms of the deadly virus.

Health authorities say that so far there is no sign to confirm the presence of the "Delta" variant, but doctors urge caution in the implementation of anti-COVID measures.
Epidemiologist, Ilir Alimehmeti told Euronews Albania that the "Delta" variant is 40% much more transmissible than the other variants.
