Being an MP in Albania is considered as one of the most important commitments in politics that, among other things, bring a lot of income. But, how much does an MP cost to the budget of the Albanian state?
On the eve of the launch of the new parliamentary legislature on September 9, Euronews Albania has calculated the financial benefits that go to an MP.
The net monthly salary for an elected official is 116,539 leks, but his monthly benefits are much more.
In addition to the salary, the income given to an MP for fuel, telephone use, per diems, and rent for those who do not have a home in Tirana. Participation in the commission is also rewarded to the deputies.
In total, the monthly official benefits for a deputy go up to 323 thousand leks or about 2 thousand 700 euros.
In total, the expenses for a deputy during a year go up to 3 million 876 thousand leks or about 32 thousand euros.
Expenditures for a deputy:
Net monthly salary: 116,539.
Fuel: 30 to 40 thousand leks.
Phone: 17 to 20 thousand leks.
Diet: 27 to 75 thousand leks.
Participation in commissions: up to 25 thousand leks.
Rent: 35 to 70 thousand leks.
Total net monthly benefits: up to 323 thousand leks.
