Italy to donate vaccines to Albania and Kosovo, 15 million doses for poor countries by the end of 2021

 Italy will donate 15 million coronavirus vaccines by 2021 to poor countries, listing Albania and Kosovo.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio at a conference yesterday in Italy. According to him, so far Italy has spent 385 million euros on the "Covax Facity" program with the commitment to help distribute vaccines to countries in need.

"Italy will donate 15 million doses of vaccine to poor countries by 2021 and in recent weeks has facilitated dosing donations in favor of countries in need of vaccine such as Albania, Kosovo, Libya, Yemen, and Indonesia." - said Di Maio.

According to Italian media, the neighboring country has so far administered over 75 million doses of the anti-Covid vaccine while with both doses have been vaccinated over 67% of the population over the age of 12 years.

The goal of the Italian authorities is to vaccinate about 80% of the resident population by 15 September.
