Kosovo has decided to tighten restrictive measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

From 20 August, entry to nightclubs and family holidays should only take place if proven to be a full vaccination certificate or receiving a dose of COVID-19 vaccine or a negative test, valid within 72 hours.

Access will also be allowed if the person has passed the COVID-19 virus in the last 180 days.

Meanwhile, the premises and restaurants are allowed to stay open until 03:00 am.

The Minister of Health, Arben Vitia said that these measures are in line with the epidemiological situation, but without affecting the economy. According to him, in the future, more stringent measures are not ruled out.

"The measures are in proportion to the risks caused and the current circumstances for the prevention of COVID-19. These measures do not constitute a mandatory obligation for vaccination," he said.

Kosovo on Thursday had a record number of new cases of COVID-19 as 1009 people tested positive and two people lost their lives.
