Nedim Bajrami now officially part of Albanian National Team

Footballer Nedim Bajrami is now officially part of the Albanian National Team.

The news was announced on Monday by the Albanian Football Federation (AFF), which some months ago had started the procedures to get Bajrami in the team.

FIFA did not allow the Empoli player to play for the red and black colors as he had played four matches after turning 21 with the Swiss U21 team.

"After the first refusal by the international bodies, the Legal Directorate of the AFF addressed the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne," the statement said.

Coach Edoardo Reja said that the victory of the case in CAS was done after the detailed collection of documentation and consultation with the best justice experts.

Good news for the Italian coach, who will have another element in his squad for the September matches against Poland, in Warsaw, as well as for the matches against Hungary and San Marino that will be played on the 5th and 8th of September in "Elbasan Arena".

Bajrami since 2019 has been active with the Empoli team and last season was one of the most distinguished players scoring 5 goals and giving 8 assists in the 36 matches. The 22-year-old was born in Zurich but both his parents are of Albanian origin.
