Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic has warned he will oust the government if Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic initiates proceedings to oust Interior Minister Sergej Sekulovic.
Abazovic said that with the eventual dismissal of Sekulovic, the ruling coalition would cross the "red line" and thus lose his support.
"With this act and the reactions after all that the police have successfully faced in Cetinje, they have violated this line, but if they go one step further, it is not impossible that we do not have a new minister, but no it is not even impossible to have a new prime minister. After that, I will overthrow the government," Abazovic said on Thursday in an interview with Vijesti television.
Abazovic stresses Montenegrin police will not be managed by Belgrade until it is part of the government and the governing coalition.
"The police will not be managed by Belgrade and this will not happen on my back," Abazovic said.
Prime Minister Krivokapic has announced the initiation of proceedings for the dismissal of Interior Minister Sergej Sekulovic, because he has rejected the request for the dismissal of Police Director Zoran Bergjani. Krivokapic's Democratic Front party has demanded the dismissal of the police director, who allegedly hesitated to provide security for the ordination ceremony of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro, Joakinije, in Cetinje on August 5.
