Ermira Leskaj has been rated as one of the 50 model entrepreneurs in North Rhine-Westphalia, which were announced by Federal Minister of Economy Peter Altmeier. The jury composed of representatives of the company "WOMEN" chose her with the motivation "For the contribution given as a volunteer in schools, universities and regional activities for the promotion of women-led enterprises and for the identification of women in business and society.
The daughter of an Albanian diplomat, Leskaj, who grew up in Canada, speaks six languages. Before finding her way into social services she graduated as a soprano.
Leskaj also worked as a volunteer with Syrian refugees whom he supported to adapt to German culture.
"Supporting young people is important to me, especially the part related to migration and integration. I especially help people with disabilities and sick children, their families to cope on a daily basis," she said.
