The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, through a post on Facebook, called the situation that has escalated in recent days in north Kosovo as evidence of Serbia's destabilizing approach.
She called on the international community not to ignore the Russian-influenced Serbian tendency to destabilize the region.
"In Kosovo, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the same destabilizing model is being used, which Russia uses in the Baltic states, Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia. Therefore, it is time for the international community, first of all, the EU and NATO member states, to see this danger and stop the Vucic regime from achieving its goal of creating a 'Serbian world' that belongs to 'the logic of the 90s in Serbia,' Osmani said.
Osmani addressed the Serb citizens of Kosovo to "reject the ominous scenarios of Serbia" and the institutions "to be close to them by offering support".
The situation in Kosovo has become tense last week after the decision of Prime Minister Albin Kurti to impose the obligation for temporary license plates for Serbs traveling by car in Kosovo. The same policy has been applied by Serbia for about 10 years.
The establishment of this "reciprocal" policy has been opposed by Serbia, whose president, Vucic, has stated that he will not continue the dialogue until this policy is withdrawn.
