Philip Caushaj while being interviewed by MCN; translated for Oculus News by Lola Paskali |
He has never hidden that his ancestors are from Albania. Despite the painful history of his tribe interned after the escape of their grandparents in America, doctor Philip Caushaj, one of the best doctors in the USA, has found the roots of his Albanian ancestors.
His father raised him by learning the Albanian language but had told him never to trespass in this country because of the communist system.
Winner of the title "Top doctor" in the US, tells the story of his family to MCN: "My people were in internment camps and suffered in those years. My childhood teachers were Mithat Frashëri, Hasan Tosti, Ali Këlcyra, etc. These people taught me the Albanian alphabet. "I remember being taught that those people who wanted to 'eat' the Albanian borders were our enemies."
Caushaj comes from two Albanian parents, his father from Tepelena and his mother from Fier. Although born in the USA, he always had the worry of coming to Albania.
"My father entrusted me not to return to Albania, but Albania has changed and I did well to come out of the frames of the past. All my life I have said I am Albanian because those people who deny their origin can never become anyone. "
