A public university student in Albania pays an annual fee of 161 to 322 euros. This is the annual fee in the Bachelor cycle. According to the level, Albania is closer to North Macedonia, where the tariff varies from 124 to 423 euros. Meanwhile, in Kosovo, students who until yesterday paid 25-50 euros, will no longer pay tuition fees.
In the region, Serbia and Bosnia have the most expensive fees, which in some universities reach up to 2 thousand euros.
The region sees a large tariff gap between countries such as Romania or Bulgaria and Croatia, the three European Union member states.
Bulgarian universities charge 150 to 870 euros for the first cycle of studies, while Romania applies figures above the regional average, up to 7000 euros. Croatia is the cheapest place for students from the Balkan region with fees ranging from 17 to 66 euros.
