The Institute of Public Health (IPH) has published the analysis of water samples taken from the water supply of Kruja, after the poisoning of about 600 citizens.
IPH informed that the cause of water pollution in the city of Kruja was the presence of enterococcal bacteria.
The Deputy Director of the Institute of Public Health, Dritan Ulqinaku said that from the analyzes received from the IPH it has resulted that in a single point of the water supply of Kruja has entered the enterococcal bacteria which is thought to be the cause of these gastrointestinal disorders that the citizens of Kruja had.
Ulqinaku said that it is thought that this water epidemic is caused as a result of the surface pollution of the rains that fell a few days ago that have brought a mixture with the drinking water of the water supply of Kruja.
"It is a water epidemic and I believe that the responsibility falls on the water supply of Kruja, it should have reacted in time with the first turbulence that has been caused", said Ulqinaku.
About 500 people are suspected of being poisoned by drinking water in Kruja 2 days ago, including children.
Most of the citizens received medication and left the hospital, while there were also those who showed more complications and continued the treatment in the hospital.
