Albania exports 500 tons of tangerines in 20 days

 The village of Xarë, in Konispol in the southern part of Albania, leads the production of citrus in the country, where there are about 500 ha of cultivated land with different varieties of oranges, tangerines, lemons, and citrus.

Of the 30 thousand tons produced annually, 20 thousand of them go for export.

The Export Center in Vlora informs that, "500 tons of tangerines were exported during the 20 days of October 2021, in Kosovo, Northern Macedonia, and Ukraine", as the Albanian Telegraphic Agency reports.

While the expectations are for a growing trend of tangerine exports in the coming weeks.

Farmers, locals, but also many other foreign guests, celebrate in mid-November, the tangerine harvest season, through various activities for children, visits to plantations and processing plants in the village, a fair with local products, dances, traditional foods, etc.

Mandarin Fest is a tradition in Konispol, as this place is well known for these types of products.


"Mandarin Festival" aims to promote local production of tangerines and this holiday is a concrete example that speaks of the success of production and exports of this product.

Xarra has over 85 thousand citrus trees, of which 75 thousand are tangerines. In recent years in the southern part of the country have been planted with citrus over 160 hectares of new land and today there are 269 farmers in the area who cultivate tangerines.
