On Tuesday, November 2, New Yorkers will vote for the next mayor and other key local officials. Albanian lawyer Aleksandër Mici is also part of the race for the municipal council. He is running for City Council in District 13 in the Pelham Parkway area, Morris Park, Pelham Bay, Throgs Neck Pelham Gardens Allerton, Williamsbridge, and City Island. In this constituency, Albanian voters make up a significant number of this district but the representation of the Albanian community has been very weak in previous elections.

"The participation of the voters and, above all, of the Albanian community en masse in these elections would ensure a sure victory for my candidacy. 11,000 votes are enough to win this race. At the moment, the Democrats are running in the political parties in the election campaign, but the chances are that in the final general elections I will face Marjorie Velazquez. I have no race within my party, it favors and motivates me to work with the electorate and focus on campaigning as the only party candidate in the Republican camp. This is a great trust from the party I represent. It is certainly an appreciation for the Albanian community as well. Our community has the opportunity to support for the first time a genuine candidate with the right experience, moral integrity, citizenship, and professionalism and highly qualified to represent him with dignity and Albanians should take their participation in politics more seriously because it is the only way to claim our rights as a community. The power of the vote is representative power. Widespread voter turnout factories us as a community. I expect a lot from my compatriots. Historically, when Albanians have been “united, they have done great work and achieved historic results. This is a golden moment for us as a community. I have the conviction and I have full hope that this time too the Albanians will take a big step in the success of their representation in the New York City Council, Mici said to the newspaper Dielli.
