Rama and Merkel at the Berlin Summit |
"Such mental games are much more likely outside the EU than inside it," Rama said in an interview with the German local media, answering a question about the idea of uniting Albania and Kosovo or the creation of Greater Albania.
Speaking about tensions in the Western Balkans, Rama said that possible conflicts in the region would be avoided in case of EU membership. He has taken Ireland as an example.
"The recent tensions in the north of Kosovo do not compare with the tensions of previous times. In fact, today the former opponents want to join the EU, all together. Military conflicts arise when states are isolated and not when they are in a community. Remember the positive developments that brought the Franco-German relations or even the case of Ireland. The risk of the EU importing conflict into the home is almost zero."
